The steam calendar is published annually at zillertalbahn.at; book ahead for specific dates. The steam surcharge adds to the standard fare; total return Jenbach to Mayrhofen approximately EUR 20-30. Jenbach is on the Innsbruck-Salzburg main line, 40 minutes from Innsbruck. The combination of narrow gauge, steam locomotive, and Tyrolean alpine valley scenery is one of the better rail experiences in Austria and does not require any specific interest in railways to enjoy.
