Wilhelm-Swarovski-Beobachtungswarte

The Wilhelm-Swarovski-Beobachtungswarte (Wilhelm Swarovski Observatory) on the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse is a bird and wildlife observation tower named for Wilhelm Swarovski, whose family's optics company has been associated with alpine birdwatching for decades.

The Wilhelm-Swarovski-Beobachtungswarte on the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse is a bird observation tower for watching birds of prey over the High Tauern National Park, named for the Swarovski Optik family connection to wildlife observation. Golden eagles and bearded vultures are the primary species; the bearded vulture reintroduction in the High Tauern since 1986 has made sightings reasonably reliable in summer. Included with the Grossglockner road toll; accessible May to November when the road is open. Check grossglockner.at for current schedule.
