The Wildental is a side valley in the Kleinwalsertal running south from Mittelberg toward the main alpine ridge, with a hiking trail that climbs to the Fluchtalpe mountain hut at around 1,900 meters. The trail is 3 to 4 hours return, forested in the lower section and opening into high alpine meadows above the treeline. It is one of the quieter day hikes in the Kleinwalsertal and a good way to reach proper alpine terrain without a cable car. The Fluchtalpe hut serves hot food and drink and is a natural turnaround point. The Kleinwalsertal itself is reached through Oberstdorf in Bavaria; it is Austrian territory but only accessible from Germany.
