Wenceslas Square is where Czech independence was announced in 1918 and where the Velvet Revolution played out in 1989. The 750-meter boulevard was founded as a horse market by Charles IV in 1348. The National Museum closes the upper end; the equestrian statue of Saint Wenceslas stands at the midpoint. Always accessible, free. Metro to Muzeum or Mustek. Walk the full length for the architecture; the upper end is calmer and historically denser.
