The Weinleiten Wasserturm is a converted water tower observation platform above Gamlitz on the South Styrian Wine Road, with views over the vineyard-covered hills toward the Slovenian border. The region produces some of Austria’s best Sauvignon Blanc and Welschriesling in a landscape that resembles Tuscany more than central Europe. Car recommended; about 50km south of Graz. Best in September-October harvest season.
