A neo-Gothic building on the Ringstrasse that serves as the seat of Vienna's city government. The Rathausplatz in front hosts Vienna's largest Christmas market in winter, an open-air cinema in summer, and the Life Ball in June. The exterior is the attraction; interior access is via guided tour or events. The Rathausmann figure on the tower is a city emblem.

Vienna City Hall (Wiener Rathaus) at Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz 1 is the Neo-Gothic (19th-century medieval Gothic revival style, with pointed arches and elaborate decoration) municipal building on the Ringstrasse, built 1872-1883. The exterior and the Rathausplatz in front are the visitor experience: the square hosts Vienna’s largest Christmas market in winter, open-air cinema screenings in summer, and the annual Life Ball. Interior access via guided tours (check wien.gv.at/rathaus) or public events. The Rathausmann knight figure on the tower is a Vienna emblem.
