The Vienna Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof) at Simmeringer Hauptstrasse 234 holds the graves of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert (all reinterred here after 1874 to attract visitors), Strauss II, Schoenberg, Salieri, and Hedy Lamarr, among approximately three million burials. Beethoven and Schubert’s honorary graves are in Group 32A near the main entrance. The Jugendstil (Austro-Hungarian Art Nouveau) church at the center is the architectural landmark. Tram 71 from the city center takes you directly; the journey gave rise to the Viennese euphemism for dying. Open daily; free entry to the grounds.
