The Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) is the center of Ljubljana and the most recognizable work of architect Joze Plecnik, who reshaped the city in the 1920s and 30s. The original stone bridge dates to 1842; Plecnik added two flanking pedestrian bridges in 1932 to create a three-bridge composition connecting Preseren Square to the old town market. It’s the natural orientation point in Ljubljana: walk across all three, turn and look toward the Castle, and you have the city’s essential photograph. Free, outdoor, and at the center of everything. Combine with the Preseren Square flower vendors, the Ljubljana Castle funicular, and the covered market nearby.
