The Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road connects the Otztal in Tyrol with South Tyrol’s Passeier Valley at 2,474 meters, the highest border crossing in the Eastern Alps open to regular traffic. The road runs approximately mid-June to late October; toll applies on the Austrian section (approximately EUR 10-15 per car). Five tunnels protect the Austrian side; the Italian side has more open switchbacks. From Obergurgl the drive to the summit takes about 30 minutes.
