Obergurgl-Hochgurgl occupies the dead end of the Oetztal, the road stopping at 1,930 meters in what is officially the highest parish in Austria. The ski area connects two villages via gondola and offers some of the most reliable snow in the Alps, with a season typically running from late November to early May. Unlike neighboring Soelden, Obergurgl has no through traffic and a quiet, intentional atmosphere. Hotels lean toward family-run and premium, with a handful of wellness properties. Getting here requires a bus through the Oetztal from Soelden or a transfer from Innsbruck. Plan at least 4 nights to justify the journey. Summer hiking on the surrounding 3,000-meter peaks is excellent but the resort is primarily a winter destination.
