The St. Kathrein Thermal is the second of Bad Kleinkirchheim’s two thermal spas, the family-oriented complement to the older Römerbad. Both draw from the same thermal springs that gave the village its “Bad” designation. The St. Kathrein Thermal opened in 1987 as the second of Bad Kleinkirchheim's two thermal spa facilities, the other being the older Römerbad.
