Stift Goss is Styria’s oldest monastery, founded in 1004 on the northern edge of Leoben at Turmgasse 1. The Romanesque crypt beneath the convent church dates to the original foundation and is one of the oldest preserved architectural spaces in Styria. The monastery is also the origin of the Gosser Bier name, which traces back to a medieval brewery adjacent to the convent. Leoben is 40 minutes by train from Graz.
