The Steiner Tor is the last surviving medieval gate of Krems, a late 15th-century Gothic tower with flanking turrets at the western entrance to the Landstrasse pedestrian zone. It marked the historical boundary between the formerly independent towns of Krems and Stein. Free and always accessible. Krems is about 1 hour from Vienna by train; walk the Landstrasse east through the gate for the best view of the old town. Best combined with the Stadtteil Stein district and the Wachau valley.
