Stappitzer See is a high alpine lake near Mallnitz in the Hohe Tauern National Park, sitting above the village at approximately 1,520 meters. The lake is glacially formed and surrounded by the Ankogel massif, one of the more remote and less visited mountain groups in the Hohe Tauern.

Stappitzer See is a glacial alpine lake near Mallnitz in the Hohe Tauern National Park, at approximately 1,520 meters in the Ankogel massif, reached by a 1.5-2 hour walk from Mallnitz village. Mallnitz is one of the few remote alpine valleys in the region accessible by train via the Tauern railway tunnel. Free to visit; no facilities at the lake. The Ankogel cable car above the lake gives access to higher terrain.
