The Gloriette is a Neoclassical colonnade and viewpoint at the top of the hill behind Schoenbrunn Palace, built in 1775 by Maria Theresia to commemorate the Austrian victory at the Battle of Kolin in 1757. From its terrace you look down over the palace, its gardens, and Vienna spreading to the north and east.

The view looking down over the Baroque palace and its axial garden layout from the hilltop is one of Vienna’s most satisfying classical perspectives.
