Schloss Cumberland above Gmunden was built in 1882 for the exiled Duke of Cumberland, heir to the Kingdom of Hanover, which Prussia had annexed in 1866. The castle served as the Cumberland family seat in Austrian exile for decades and is now an education center not open to the general public. Viewable from the Gmunden Esplanade and lake level.
