The Schattberg peaks above Saalbach sit at around 2,020 meters and give access to the full Skicircus ski network in winter and a rewarding ridge walk in summer. Two cable cars leave from central Saalbach, making the summit easy to reach without a car. In winter the long runs back to the valley are among the best in the Kitzbuhel Alps; in summer the ridge connecting Schattberg West and Schattberg Ost is a quiet half-day walk with views stretching to the Grossglockner.
