Ruine Tabor sits on the Taborberg hill above Neusiedl am See, the only elevated point in an otherwise completely flat steppe landscape. The viewpoint looks over the Neusiedlersee, Europe’s westernmost steppe lake (UNESCO World Heritage) and the Hungarian border beyond. Free access, always open, about 1 hour including the walk up from town. Best combined with a visit to the Neusiedlersee shore and the nearby wine town of Rust.

Ruine Tabor
A ruined fortification on the Taborberg hill above Neusiedl am See, giving views over the Neusiedlersee, the shallow steppe lake on the Austrian-Hungarian border. The Taborberg hill is the highest point in an otherwise completely flat landscape, which makes the viewpoint more dramatic than the ruins themselves warrant.
