The Preberschiessen at the Prebersee (1,514 m) is an annual marksmanship competition where participants shoot at the reflection of a target in the lake rather than the target itself. The optical challenge of reflection shooting is completely different from standard target competition, and the tradition dates to at least the 17th century. The lake is free to visit year-round. The annual shooting event is typically in July. St. Michael im Lungau on the Tauernbahn is the nearest rail access; car recommended for the lake approach.
