The Vienna Prater is a large public park in the Leopoldstadt district opened to the public by Joseph II in 1766, containing the Wurstelprater amusement park and the 1897 Riesenrad (Giant Ferris Wheel, Riesenrad.com) that was the Third Man filming location. The Hauptallee, a 4.4 km straight chestnut avenue, is the city’s premier running and cycling route. The Riesenrad gondola gives a panorama over Vienna; tickets at the ride base. The green Prater is free to enter; the Wurstelprater rides are individually priced.
