Petrin Hill

Petrin Hill above Malá Strana is Prague’s green escape from the old town, reachable by a funicular that has run since 1891. At the top, the 63-meter Observation Tower is a deliberate smaller-scale Eiffel Tower, built the same year by Czech engineers who had seen the Paris original. The view over Prague is less crowded and more varied than the Castle Hill standard angle. The hill also holds a 14th-century wall commissioned by Charles IV as a public employment project during famine, a mirror maze, and rose gardens. Tram to Ujezd, then funicular up.
