Park Restaurant Bled

Also known as Restavracija Park

The birthplace of the Bled cream cake (kremsnita), created here in 1953 by pastry chef Istvan Lukacevic. The original recipe, a custard and cream slab between crisp puff pastry layers, is the single most iconic food item in all of Slovenia and the reason most people stop here. The terrace overlooks the lake directly.

The Park Restaurant at Bled is where the kremsnita was invented in 1953. The cream cake, a slab of custard and whipped cream between crisp puff pastry layers, became Slovenia’s most iconic pastry. Every cafe in Bled now sells its own version; the Park Restaurant is where it started. The terrace looks directly across the lake to the island church.
