The Oberer Stadtplatz is the main square of Hall in Tirol, 15 minutes from Innsbruck by S-Bahn but with almost none of the tourist density. Hall was the site where the Tyrolean mint struck the Guldiner in 1486, the large silver coin that established the coin type that evolved into the Thaler and eventually the dollar. The square is surrounded by the Gothic Pfarrkirche, the Rathausturm, and intact medieval residential architecture. Free access; by S3 S-Bahn from Innsbruck (15 minutes).
