Hall in Tirol has one of the best-preserved medieval old towns in Tyrol and almost no international visitors, because Innsbruck absorbs them 10 kilometers west. The Münze Hall in Burg Hasegg tells the story of the Habsburg mint that operated here from 1477 to 1809, including the minting of the large silver Thaler (forerunner of the dollar). The town grew on salt transit wealth and the architecture reflects it. About 20 minutes from Innsbruck by S-Bahn. Lower accommodation prices than Innsbruck and a quieter pace make it a strong alternative base.
