The Naturpark Zillertaler Alpen covers the high alpine zone at the head of the Zillertal in Tyrol, including glaciers reaching over 3,500 meters and the Hintertux Glacier (Austria’s only year-round skiing glacier). The park’s crystalline geology is distinct from the limestone ranges elsewhere in Tyrol and supports significant glacier coverage. The Berliner Hoehenweg multi-day traverse is one of Tyrol’s classic alpine routes. Access via the Zillertal Bahn narrow-gauge railway from Jenbach to Mayrhofen, then bus to Hintertux.
