Naschmarkt

The Naschmarkt stretches 1.5 kilometers along the Wienzeile, directly above the Wien River, which was sealed in a concrete channel around 1900 to create the site. Over 120 stalls sell produce, spices, cheese, meat, and prepared food from Austrian, Turkish, Asian, and Middle Eastern vendors. The Saturday flea market at the Kettenbrueckengasse end draws collectors from across the city. At the eastern entrance, two Otto Wagner Jugendstil apartment buildings from 1898 and 1899, one covered in Koloman Moser gold medallions, mark where architecture and commerce have shared the same pavement for over a century.
