The MuseumsQuartier (MQ) in Vienna occupies the former Imperial Court Stables designed by Fischer von Erlach in the early 18th century, converted in 2001 into one of the world’s ten largest cultural complexes. Behind the preserved Baroque facade, two new museum buildings face each other across a courtyard: the white limestone Leopold Museum holding Klimt and Schiele, and the dark basalt cube of MUMOK for Pop Art and Viennese Actionism.
