Mozart House St. Gilgen

Also known as Mozarthaus St. Gilgen

The house in St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee where Anna Maria Pertl, Mozart's mother, was born in 1720. Nannerl Mozart lived here after her marriage to the local magistrate. One of the genuinely under-visited Mozart family sites.

The Mozarthaus in St. Gilgen is the birthplace of Anna Maria Pertl, Mozart’s mother, and the later home of his sister Nannerl. Located at Ischlerstraße 15 on the main square, it is a small museum documenting the Salzkammergut side of the Mozart family and Nannerl’s life as a pianist in her own right. St. Gilgen is 45 minutes from Salzburg by bus or reachable by boat across the Wolfgangsee. Check mozarthaus.info for current opening times.
