Lichtsaule

A Gothic-style stone column dating to 1513 standing in the town center of Radstadt in the Salzburg Pongau. Lichtsäulen (light columns) were medieval street monuments combining a cross and a lantern holder into a single carved stone object, used as waymarkers and sites of prayer in market towns.

A late Gothic stone light column from 1513 in the center of Radstadt, one of the better-preserved medieval street monuments in the Salzburg region. Free and always accessible. Radstadt also has intact medieval town walls worth a walk around. Tauern railway from Salzburg takes about 1 hour.
