The Lennon Wall in Mala Strana’s Velkoprevorske namesti began as a covert protest site in 1980 when Prague students painted John Lennon’s image after his assassination, defying repeated Communist police whitewashing. In 1988 it triggered a student-police confrontation on Charles Bridge that became a forerunner to the Velvet Revolution.
