Krummschnabelsee

The Krummschnabelsee is a small alpine lake above Obertauern in the Radstadter Tauern, notable for the turquoise color produced by glacial flour suspension in its water. It sits at around 1,900 meters and requires a hike to reach, which is what makes it a worthwhile destination compared to the roadside lakes further down the valley.

The Krummschnabelsee is a turquoise alpine lake at around 1,900 meters above Obertauern in the Radstadter Tauern, reached by a 2 to 3 hour round trip hike from the ski resort. Free access; open roughly July through September. Obertauern is accessible by bus from Radstadt. Best visited in bright sunlight for the strongest turquoise color effect.
