Kopssee

The Kopssee is a high-altitude reservoir at 1,811 meters above Gaschurn in the deep Montafon valley, created in 1962 when the Vorarlberg power company dammed the upper Ill river to build one of the largest pumped-storage hydroelectric systems in the Alps. The turquoise reservoir sits in a bowl of bare rock and scree below the Silvretta group of peaks.
