Austria’s last inhabited car-free valley, rising directly from Kufstein into the Kaisergebirge limestone massif. The 1.5-hour walk from the city to the Anton-Karg-Haus mountain hut passes through dramatic alpine terrain with the Hinterkaiser peaks above. The valley is car-free by conservation choice; a service tunnel built in 2008 for the valley’s residents is not open to visitors. Fully accessible on foot from Kufstein Hauptbahnhof in 15 minutes.

Kaisertal
The Kaisertal is a side valley of the Kaisergebirge rising directly north of Kufstein, historically Austria's last inhabited valley without motor road access. A supply tunnel was completed in 2008 for the valley's few permanent residents, but the Kaisertal remains car-free for visitors: the approach from Kufstein is on foot.
