Kufstein is the first Austrian town on the Munich-Innsbruck route and the site of the Festung Kufstein, a medieval fortress on a limestone cliff with the Heldenorgel, one of the world's largest open-air pipe organs. The organ plays at noon daily and can be heard from the riverbank below for free. The old town along the Inn is lively and the Kaisergebirge range provides serious hiking immediately behind the town. About 45 minutes from Innsbruck and 40 minutes from Munich by train.
