Prague's Josefov, the former Jewish ghetto, documents one of Europe's oldest Jewish communities and its near-total destruction during the Holocaust. The combined museum ticket covers six synagogues and the Old Jewish Cemetery, where headstones are stacked in layers because the ground was too full to accommodate them in a single layer.

Prague’s Josefov quarter is a museum complex of six synagogues and the Old Jewish Cemetery built over one of Europe’s oldest Jewish communities and the near-total destruction of that community in the Holocaust. The Pinkas Synagogue walls carry the hand-painted names of 77,297 Czech and Moravian Jews murdered in the Holocaust. The combined museum ticket covers the full circuit; allow 2 to 3 hours. The Old New Synagogue (Staronova synagoga), the oldest active synagogue in Europe at over 750 years, requires a separate ticket but is worth including. Metro line A to Staromestska.
