The Jesuits built this college in Cesky Krumlov in 1589, constructing it in the Renaissance style (the classical revival of ancient Roman proportion and symmetry that dominated European architecture from the 15th to 17th centuries) with vaulted ceilings and stone walls that are now the hotel's primary architectural feature.

Hotel Ruze occupies a Renaissance Jesuit college built on Horni ulice in Cesky Krumlov in 1589. Original vaulted ceilings, stone walls, and a position between the main square and the castle make it the most atmospheric hotel in the old town by a significant margin. Moderate to expensive (EUR 120-220 per night); request a vaulted room specifically. Book well ahead for summer and the baroque music festival.
