The Jewish Museum Hohenems, documenting the once-thriving Jewish community in the Rhine valley town. The museum in the Heimann-Rosenthal villa is one of the most important Jewish heritage sites in western Austria. The surrounding former Jewish quarter with its synagogue site and villa architecture forms a walking tour.

The Jewish Museum Hohenems in Vorarlberg documents one of western Austria’s most established historic Jewish communities, granted a letter of protection in 1617 and entirely destroyed by deportation between 1933 and 1942. The museum opened in 1991 in the former Heimann-Rosenthal villa and is one of Austria’s more direct confrontations with this history.
