Hohe Kugel (1,645m) is the highest summit above Hohenems in the Vorarlberg Rhine valley, with panoramic views stretching from Lake Constance to the Allgauer Alps and across to the Swiss side. 3-4 hours round trip from Hohenems by marked trail. Hohenems is 20 minutes by train from Bregenz. Always accessible in summer; free. Combine with the Hohenems Jewish Quarter and the Bregenzerwald valley.
