Moerbisch am See is a UNESCO World Heritage listed village on the southern Neusiedlersee shore in Burgenland, known for its Hofgassen, the narrow medieval courtyard lanes running between the houses from the main street back toward the lake and vineyards. The lanes date from a 13th-century village plan that has survived largely intact. Free access; daylight hours; some lanes are private. Moerbisch is 5 km from Rust by bicycle along the lake path, 25 km from Eisenstadt by bus. The Seebuhne, the famous floating operetta stage on the lake, operates July to August.
