Austria's only year-round ski area operates on the Hintertux Glacier at the head of the Tuxertal, a dead-end valley above Mayrhofen in the Zillertal. Three cable car stages reach 3,250 meters, and the top-station Gefrorene Wand (Frozen Wall) offers glacier skiing in every month of the year.

The Hintertux Glacier at the head of the Tuxertal is Austria’s only year-round ski area, with cable cars reaching 3,250 meters and glacier skiing available in every month of the year. Summer skiing runs June-September on permanent glacial ice; winter season runs October-May. Day pass EUR 53-57. By car from Mayrhofen up the Tuxertal (20 km); by Zillertal bus from Mayrhofen Bahnhof to Hintertux village. The top station Gletscherwelt 3000 viewing platform is included with the cable car ticket. Combine with the Penken ski area above Mayrhofen or a valley day in the Zillertal.
