The Herzogsburg at Altstadt 10 in Braunau am Inn is a 15th-century Renaissance building housing the regional museum of the Upper Austrian Innviertel. The building was the ducal administrative residence before the Innviertel became Austrian in 1779. Braunau is also Adolf Hitler’s birthplace, a fact the town has documented rather than suppressed.
