Braunau am Inn is a well-maintained Gothic border town on the Inn river with the tallest brick tower in Austria (Stephanskirche, 99 meters). It sits at the Austrian-Bavarian border opposite Simbach and functions primarily as a transit point on the route between Salzburg and Linz. The town is internationally known as the birthplace of Adolf Hitler; the house in question was converted to a police station in 2020 to prevent its use as a commemorative site.
