The Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze in Oberstdorf is the world’s largest ski flying hill (hill size 235m) and the opening venue of the Four Hills Tournament, the premier annual ski jumping competition held each January across four German and Austrian hills. Built in 1950 and named after its designer Heini Klopfer. Competition tickets available at skiflugschanze.de; events sell out. Oberstdorf is accessible by train from Munich (2.5 hours). From Oberstdorf, a road leads directly into the Austrian Kleinwalsertal, an Austrian valley accessible only from Germany.
