The Hahnenkamm above Kitzbuehel hosts the most demanding World Cup ski downhill in alpine racing: the 3.3-kilometer Streif with 860 meters of vertical, 130 km/h launch speeds off the Mausefalle crest, and a race weekend in January that draws 100,000 spectators. In summer, the Hahnenkammbahn cable car (day pass EUR 35-40) gives access to the alpine flower plateau and the Streif start house (20 minutes from the top station). Cable car daily approximately 8:00-17:00. Kitzbuehel is on the Innsbruck-Salzburg rail line. Race weekend accommodation must be booked months ahead.
