Kitzbühel combines a medieval old town with painted facades and pedestrian streets with the Hahnenkamm, the most technically demanding downhill race course in skiing. The Streif piste is open to intermediate skiers outside race weekends. The old town is the most genuinely attractive ski resort center in Tyrol. Summer brings golf (several courses), hiking, and the same alpine landscape without the winter crowds. About 45 minutes from Innsbruck by train. The Hahnenkamm race weekend in January requires accommodation booked months in advance.
