Gruenberg Seilbahn

The Gruenberg Seilbahn carries visitors from Gmunden on the southern end of the Traunsee to the Gruenberg summit at 984 meters, where a Baumwipfelpfad (treetop walkway, meaning an elevated path through the forest canopy on wooden platforms and bridges) completes the experience with views down over the lake and surrounding Salzkammergut hills.

The Gruenberg Seilbahn lifts visitors from lakeside Gmunden to a Baumwipfelpfad (treetop walkway on elevated wooden platforms) at the 984-meter summit, with views down over the Traunsee and the wider Salzkammergut. Half-day trip: cable car up, 45-minute treetop walk circuit, optional summit trails, cable car back. Gmunden is 30 minutes by rail from Wels and makes a good base for the southern Salzkammergut. Combine with the Gmundner Keramik manufactory in town, in operation since 1492, to see both sides of what this lakeside town has always been about.
