The Gossnitzfall above Heiligenblut drops through a forested Hohe Tauern valley a 1.5 to 2 hour round trip from the village. Free and always accessible; best flow in spring snowmelt. Heiligenblut is a small pilgrimage village at 1,291 meters at the foot of the Grossglockner, accessible by bus from Lienz (1 hour). The waterfall extends a visit beyond the famous church-and-glacier view and the Grossglockner road access, and places you in the national park landscape rather than at the road’s edge.
