Gmundner Keramik

The Gmundner Keramik manufactory at Keramikstrasse 24 has produced hand-painted ceramics in Gmunden since 1492. The signature Gruen Geflammt (green flame) pattern, which appears on every piece, became the defining motif of Austrian middle-class tableware from the 18th century onward. Factory tours show the hand-painting process; the factory outlet sells pieces at lower prices than retail. Factory shop typically Mon-Fri 9:00-17:00, Sat mornings; tours available on selected weekdays. Combine with the Gmunden Rathaus and Schloss Ort on the Traunsee lakefront for a half-day in Gmunden.
