Gerlos Alpine Road

The Gerlos Alpine Road crosses the Gerlospass at 1,507 meters between the Zillertal in Tyrol and Krimml in Salzburg province, with a toll and views of the Krimml Waterfalls on the descent. The 380-meter Krimml falls are the highest in Austria, and the road gives an aerial perspective on the upper stages that you cannot get from the valley trail below. Drive it as part of a circuit connecting the Zillertal, the Krimml falls, and the Grossglockner route. Toll required; no public bus over the pass. 30 to 45 minutes driving time.
