The Krimmler Wasserfälle are Europe’s highest uninterrupted waterfall at 380 meters, falling in three stages with peak volume during late May and June snowmelt. The walk from the base to the top takes about 2 hours and climbs 450 meters. Bring rain gear for the lower sections. The village is accessible by the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn narrow-gauge railway from Zell am See (about 1 hour 20 minutes). Early morning visits avoid the tour groups. The falls sit at the western entrance to the Hohe Tauern National Park.
